Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapy like?

Therapy is a collaborative approach between the therapist and the client. As a licensed therapist, I will help you identify goals and solutions to problems that cause emotional distress. My goal is to help improve the quality of your life.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, everything you say is confidential. Tin Cup Counseling & Consultation follows current best practices to protect your privacy during online counseling sessions.

However, there are some exceptions to the rule of confidentiality. By law, I am required to break confidentiality if a client:

  • Threatens imminent harm to oneself

  • Threatens imminent harm to others

    • Includes folks who are pregnant using illegal drugs/alcohol

  • Suspected child or elder abuse – if the client is the victim or perpetrator

  • If your case is subpoenaed, I have to comply by law

You can ask questions before the session begins if you have concerns about confidentiality.

Who may benefit from counseling?

Do you prescribe medication?

I practice online via tele-health through the platform SimplePractice.

Are you licensed?

Yes, I hold top licensure in my field in both Minnesota (LICSW) and South Dakota (CSW-PIP).

Who do you serve?

I work best with adults age 18-years of age or older from all backgrounds.
